Interesting etc

At the last Interesting I threatened to come up with a plan to do 'other things'. I love the feeling at Interesting and it'd be nice to have it happen at other times and places, I've never quite worked out how to do this BUT I'm now ready to do some experiments.

My thinking is this:

Interesting itself is probably 90% Short Talks About Interesting Things and 10% Hanging Out And Chatting. And people always tell me that, while they love the STAIT they'd love there to be more HOAC.

So, how about we explore that mix?

Experiment 1

An evening that's more like 60% STAIT and 40% HOAC. I'm thinking a smaller venue, just 4 talks and lots of time for drinks, music, hanging and chatting. I can imagine prototyping that at someone's offices if anyone has a big, decent room we can borrow. If we get one of those we can make it free. Any volunteers please email me? I'm imagining this'll be October or so?

Experiment 2

I enjoyed Presentation Club a lot but it didn't quite take. And I've also enjoyed Dan Hon's How People Work, Live! (and I'm doing one soon). So I'm wondering about an online thing that's 10% STAIT and 90% HOAC. ie we have one Short Talk and then we discuss it. Q&A. Related topics. Whatever comes to mind. I'm going to book a date for that - September 23rd - and then find a speaker. Quite perilous but let's see...Again, free, but you have to book.
